The launch of ‘Get On It with Jen’

Strategy Workshop

I was really unsure about the name ‘Get On It with Jen’ at first…

Although it felt really aligned to me, I was just a little bit concerned that the term ‘get on it’ may have a sexual connotation(!). And I absolutely did not want that associated with my business…

But after seeking some feedback from trusted business buddies, I have gone with my gut and used it. Not only that, but it’s part of my rebrand that I’ve done with the wonderful Lucie Selby - read to the bottom to check out my new logo for Get On It with Jen.

What is it all about?

First things first, what even is this new offering all about? It’s a group workshop hosted by me, giving you the space to be free from the day to day running of your business - I like to call that ‘working IN your business’ - to working ON your business. Think of it as the helicopter view, the opportunity to look down at your business from above, and the self love your business absolutely needs on the regular.

The thinking behind it…

Why have I launched this Strategy Workshop? Well, the truth is I have been thinking about this for a long time. Like all business owners, we have various ideas, and it has to feel right to launch them. A wonderful business owner Lauren Derrett asked me a while back if I would consider doing a Strategy Workshop locally in Essex to bring together business owners to dream big together. That was at least 2 years ago now and I hadn’t taken the action. Every December I think ‘I really should have launched a Strategy Workshop ready for next year’ but so far I hadn’t done it.

But in April 2025 I had some space in my diary and decided to do some creative thinking about the concept finally. I literally took a blank piece of paper (this is how I start many new ideas) and wrote out what it was:

  • Who I was targeting

  • What the transformation was going to be

  • The content I wanted to share

  • The templates I would create

  • The people I knew would be interested

The scary bit

The scary bit came next. I had to put a date in the diary, book the room and invite people. I was genuinely scared that no one would come! At first when I put it out there for 5 spots, I had 2 people say yes. But I didn’t feel like it would be a success with just 2 people in the room. I wanted to create the vibes, bring together inspiring business women, and make an impact. I wanted people to leave feeling uplifted, motivated and ready for action.

So I decided to share it on my socials and thankfully things went a bit crazy… I ended up having 10 people in the room (and having to completely change the room booking I made as we wouldn’t have fit!) and having to say no to another 10 people who I would have loved in the room.

So finally it happened and I can say I loved every minute of it. The people were incredible, supportive and committed to creating their future strategy for their business.

All the details

The workshop was held at Patch, Chelmsford, which is a beautiful co-work venue. It was a 3 hour Strategy session that will run 3 times a year - September, January and April, allowing you to develop your 3 month Strategy for your business.

You may be thinking ‘yes, but there are 4 quarters in the year, so why not hold 4 throughout the year??’. I totally get that, but I find that business works in 3 phases throughout the year (a bit like the school terms):

  1. September to Xmas - when the kids go back to school gearing up for the Autumn and into Xmas

  2. January - April - the start of the year with new beginnings, up until Easter

  3. May - August - post Easter and the pre-Summer vibes

So I find this works best for my clients and aligns nicely to the school holidays too which is a really helpful cycle as things tend to quieten down in August with people going on holidays.
