Why a Strategy Day can do more for your Business than 6 months of ‘winging it’
If you’re feeling busy but not clear in your business, I want to show you how a Strategy Day can help you get focused, make confident decisions, and create real momentum.
If you’re a business owner who feels constantly busy, but not always clear on what to focus on next, you’re not alone. So many business owners are full of ideas, working hard, and doing all the things… But still feel like they’re winging it behind the scenes. The honest truth is that we spend a lot of time doing the ‘do’ (the operational part of the business like delivering to our clients), but not enough time ‘on’ the business - thinking ahead, reflecting and taking strategic actions.
Why a Strategy Day can do more for your Business than 6 months of ‘winging it’
…And that’s exactly why I believe a Strategy Day can be one of the most powerful investments you make in your business. Because sometimes, one focused day of stepping back, getting clear, and making strategic decisions can do more for your business than six months of second guessing.
What ‘winging it’ in Business really looks like
Let’s be clear - most business owners aren’t short on ideas. Sometimes the opposite is true, we have too many ideas, constantly seeing new things pop up on instagram making us feel like we ‘should’ be doing it. This is never productive, it either leaves us over worked and stressed, or gives us feelings of imposter syndrome that we aren’t doing enough.
But the challenge isn’t a lack of ambition and ideas. It’s a lack of clarity.
Winging it in business can look like:
Changing direction every few weeks
Posting on social media without a clear strategy
Feeling busy all the time, but not seeing impact in your business bank account
Juggling too many ideas at once
Struggling to prioritise what actually matters
Constantly feeling like you just some time to sit down and think
If you’re balancing business, family life, social media, life admin, etc. then you probably have multiple mental tabs open at once. The result of this is you stay stuck in reactive mode and never feel ahead of the game.
And when that happens, you can end up spending months working hard, without feeling properly focused and seeing results (by that I mean revenue growing in your business bank account).
Why ‘doing’ more isn’t the answer
When your business feels messy, the default response is often to do more.
More content.
More offers.
More networking.
More courses.
More new ideas.
But often, the issue isn’t effort. It’s strategy (or a lack of a strategy). Because if you’re pouring energy into the wrong things, or trying to do everything at once, you can stay incredibly busy and still feel stuck.
That’s why clarity matters so much - you don’t always need more information, you need the space to make better decisions. For example, someone approaches you about a collaboration idea. Sounds great, but is it actually aligned to your strategy and where you want your business to go? If you have no strategy to check this opportunity against, then you may say yes, spend a lot of time focused on something else, which could adversely impact your core business. Having a strategy means you are clear on your focus, direction, and which opportunities align to you.
What is a Strategy Day?
A Strategy Day is dedicated time to step out of the day-to-day running of your business and look at the bigger picture. It gives you the chance to:
Be ‘on the business’ and assess what’s really going on in your business
Get clear on what’s working and what isn’t
Simplify your offers, messaging or marketing
Identify the priorities that will actually make the biggest impact on your revenue
Create a focused, realistic plan for the next 3 to 6 months
Your Strategy Day is about creating a clear, strategic roadmap that fits your business, your goals, and your season of life. I should also mention that I do these both online and in person.
What we can cover in a Strategy Day
Every Strategy Day is tailored and varies from client to client, but we might look at things like:
Your offers and whether they’re aligned with your goals
Your messaging and how clearly you communicate your value
Your visibility and marketing strategy
Your client journey and customer experience
What’s currently feeling messy, inconsistent or overwhelming
Where your time and energy are being spent
Your priorities for the next quarter
What needs simplifying, refining or letting go
You leave with clarity, direction, and a plan you can actually implement (it’s all documented for you so you have a physical copy that you can take forward in your business).
Why a Strategy Day is so powerful
People often underestimate what can happen in one focused day. But when you have:
dedicated time to think
expert support (I have almost 20 years experience in strategy, across corporate and entrepreneurship, and both product and service businesses!)
honest conversations (I will not just tell you what you want to hear)
strategic input (I have this superpower where I take all your challenges and ideas and formulate them in a simple plan)
and space away from daily distractions
…you can make big shifts, quickly. I love the lightbulb moments that my clients have in their strategy days.
The shifts happen because the thing keeping most business owners stuck isn’t a lack of potential. It’s a lack of headspace for focused decision making.
A Strategy Day helps you:
stop overthinking
simplify your next steps
make confident decisions
create momentum
focus on what actually matters and what’s going to bring money into your business bank account
And that’s why one day can save you months of going round in circles.
“What can I say, Jen was fantastic!
I wanted someone who didn’t know me at all to support me, someone who wasn’t already invested in me as a person. Jen was recommended to me by someone and what a brilliant recommendation.
Working with Jen on my own business strategy was amazing. Even though I do alot of the same work with my clients, I was struggling to identify gaps in my own and this is where the magic happens.
Supportive, listened and communicated everything brilliantly. For anyone that is looking for support on their business then get in touch with Jen!
Thank you”
Who Is a Strategy Day for?
A Strategy Day is ideal for business owners who:
Feel busy but not clear
Have lots of ideas but no real plan
Want to grow but aren’t sure what to focus on next
Feel like their offers or messaging are a bit muddled
Are preparing for a pivot, launch, new offer or next level of growth
Need space to think strategically instead of constantly reacting
You can be a service or product based business - I work with both because strategy is something that all business owners need to step into their CEO selves. If your business has potential but feels a bit all over the place right now, a Strategy Day could really move your forward.
What you’ll walk away with
By the end of a Strategy Day, here are some of the outcomes you may leave with (obviously this depends on what we focus on)
Clearer pricing and offers
Stronger marketing messaging
Focused priorities aligned to your income goals
More confidence in decisions
An action plan
Less overwhelm
More direction and momentum
It’s not about doing more. It’s about doing the right things, in the right order and feeling like you’re growing a sustainable business that you love.
You don’t need more ideas. You need clarity
If your business feels busy but not focused…
If you’re full of ideas but struggling to turn them into a clear plan…
If you know you’re capable of more, but you can’t quite see the path…
You probably don’t need another freebie, another course, or another ‘quick win’.
You need clarity.
